Questions from ownersWhat owners ask first.
Straight answers. If yours is not here, ask it in the first conversation.
Is The Cyber Harbor Group private equity?
No. We are a consortium of private owners who still run our own firms. There is no fund behind us, no hold period, and no plan to sell the group on.
Do I have to sell the whole company?
No. You can sell the company, hand over your book of clients and wind down, or move your clients over and stay on with the team. We work out which fits in the first few conversations. See the three paths.
Does my company keep its name?
Case by case. A larger firm can keep its own name as a company in the group. A smaller book usually moves onto Boston Managed IT or Southwest Florida IT. We decide that together.
What happens to my clients?
They move onto our platform and are served by the operating company that fits them, with the handover planned client by client: credentials, documentation, and who tells each client what, and when.
What happens to my team?
Your people are part of the conversation from the start. The proposal says in writing what happens to each person on your team.
Where do you buy?
New England, the Great Lakes (Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana), and Florida’s Gulf Coast.
What will you ask me for, and is it confidential?
At first, nothing. Once we both think it is worth a closer look: a client list with recurring revenue, your main contracts, your tools, and how your team is set up. What you share stays confidential.
What if I just want to close down?
That is one of the three paths. We take over your clients on a schedule you set, with a clean handover. Our post on shutting down an MSP without selling it covers how a good wind-down works.
How does the process work?
Seven steps, the same on every path: a conversation, a look at the book, a proposal in plain terms, agreement, a handover plan, the move, and what comes after. See each step.
Thinking about what comes next?
Write to us. The first conversation is a conversation, not a pitch, and there is nothing to prepare.
